What You'll Learn
At the conclusion of this course PTs and PTAs will be able to:
- Define foundational principles of nutrition, such as macronutrients, micronutrients, daily limits/recommendations.
- Understand the concept of the food industry and lobbies as it relates to food choices for health and wellness
- Outline the function of specific nutrients as it relates to health and physical therapy
- Identify foods sources for nutrients
- Compare and contrast differing diet patterns of physical therapy patients including: the standard American diet (SAD), the Mediterranean diet, the plant-based diet, and other diets.
- Identify common dietary assessments used in nutritional assessments by physical therapists.
- Analyze food labels to counsel physical therapy patients on food contents and nutrients
All 3 courses can be taken at your own pace. It is presented in a multimedia approach including visual, auditory, and interactive components to optimize your learning.
